How to Request and Complete a Return

At The Outdoorsman, we want every return request to be handled clearly, fairly, and efficiently. Please review and follow the instructions below before returning any product.

Important — Contact Us Before Returning Any Product

Do not ship or deliver a return until you have contacted The Outdoorsman and received return instructions. Products sent without first completing the return-request process may be refused.

Step 1 — Confirm Return Eligibility

Eligible products may be returned within 30 days of the original purchase date, subject to The Outdoorsman’s Return & Exchange Policy, product exclusions, and the conditions below.

A return request made within 30 days does not automatically guarantee approval. All returned merchandise is subject to inspection and final approval.

Step 2 — Confirm the Product Is in Returnable Condition

Unless the product was received damaged or incorrect, merchandise submitted for a standard return must be:

  • Unused
  • Uncarried and unworn
  • Unsharpened
  • Unmodified
  • Uninstalled and unmounted
  • Clean and free from dirt, odours, residue, moisture, or signs of field use
  • In original resalable condition
  • Complete with all original packaging, tags, manuals, inserts, accessories, components, and promotional items

Products showing evidence of use, wear, carrying, sharpening, alteration, installation, mounting, damage, misuse, or missing components may be refused.

Step 3 — Take a Minimum of Three Current Photos

Before a digital or shipped return request can be reviewed, customers must provide a minimum of three (3) clear, current photographs of the actual product they wish to return.

Photos should include:

  • One clear photo showing the entire product
  • A second clear photo showing the product from a different angle
  • One clear photo showing the original packaging, tags, labels, and included accessories
  • Clear photos of any area showing possible wear, damage, marks, defects, or concerns
  • The product model, serial number, UPC, or other identifying information, where applicable

Additional photographs may be requested. Providing photographs does not constitute approval of a return. Final eligibility is determined after the product is received and physically inspected.

Step 4 — Submit Your Return Request

Please provide:

  • Your full name
  • Order number
  • Purchase date
  • Product name
  • Reason for the return
  • Whether the item has been opened
  • Whether the item has been used, carried, worn, sharpened, installed, mounted, modified, or damaged
  • A minimum of three (3) clear, current photographs of the actual product

Receiving return instructions does not constitute final approval of a refund, exchange, or store credit.

Special Conditions for Knives & Cutting Tools

Knives and cutting tools may be eligible for return within 30 days only when they remain in original, unused, resalable condition.

A knife or cutting tool may be refused if it has been:

  • Carried or used for cutting
  • Sharpened or honed
  • Modified or disassembled
  • Damaged
  • Exposed to moisture, chemicals, adhesives, food, game processing, or field use
  • Returned with scratches, edge wear, coating wear, residue, or other signs of use
  • Returned without original packaging, accessories, or included components

For safety reasons, never ship a loose or exposed blade. Any return must be securely and safely packaged.

Step 5 — Return Shipping Costs

For standard returns and exchanges, the customer is responsible for all costs associated with shipping the product back to The Outdoorsman.

Return shipping costs are not prepaid or reimbursed by The Outdoorsman. Original outbound shipping charges are non-refundable.

We strongly recommend using a tracked shipping service and retaining the tracking number until the return has been fully processed. The customer is responsible for properly and securely packaging the product.

Do not send returns COD or collect. COD or collect shipments may be refused.

Step 6 — Inspection and Final Approval

All returned products are inspected before a refund, exchange, or store credit is approved. Inspection may include verification of:

  • Product condition and signs of use or wear
  • Signs of carrying or field use
  • Sharpening or edge alteration
  • Installation, mounting, modification, or disassembly
  • Completeness of packaging, accessories, and components
  • Product identity and identifying information where applicable
  • Consistency with photographs submitted during the return request
  • Compliance with the applicable return period and policy

If a product does not meet our return conditions, the return may be refused. If a return is refused after inspection, the customer may be responsible for the cost of shipping the product back to them.

Approved Refunds

Approved returns are refunded according to The Outdoorsman’s posted Return & Exchange Policy. Where applicable, refunds are processed back to the original method of payment after receipt and inspection.

Approved Exchanges

Eligible products may be exchanged for the exact same product, subject to inventory availability, product eligibility, inspection, and approval. Additional shipping charges may apply.

Damaged or Incorrect Items Received

If your order arrives damaged or contains the wrong product, contact The Outdoorsman as soon as reasonably possible and before using the item or shipping it back.

Please retain the product, original packaging, shipping carton, shipping labels, manuals, accessories, and all included materials. Clear photographs will be required to help assess the issue and determine the next step.

Manufacturer Warranty Claims

A standard return and a manufacturer warranty claim are different processes. Products that have been used and later develop a suspected manufacturing defect are generally not processed as standard 30-day returns.

Manufacturer warranty claims are generally handled directly through the applicable manufacturer according to that manufacturer’s warranty terms, procedures, eligibility requirements, inspection processes, and available remedies.

Where reasonably available, The Outdoorsman may assist by providing proof-of-purchase information or directing customers to the appropriate manufacturer warranty process. Manufacturer warranty claims remain subject to the applicable manufacturer’s terms and applicable law.

Return Refusal Conditions

A return may be refused if it:

  • Falls outside the applicable return period
  • Shows signs of use, wear, carrying, sharpening, installation, mounting, alteration, or damage
  • Is incomplete or missing original packaging, tags, manuals, accessories, or components
  • Cannot reasonably be resold as new
  • Differs materially from the condition shown in submitted photographs
  • Does not match the product originally purchased
  • Is excluded under the posted Return & Exchange Policy
  • Presents safety, legal, carrier, or shipping concerns

Nothing in these Return Instructions is intended to limit any rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable law.
